Elon University Numen Lumen Multi-Faith Center
LEED Silver Certification
The Numen Lumen Multi-Faith Center is the final addition to the Elon University Academic Village and was completed in 2013. The 15,000 square foot building is located in the center of campus and includes offices, multi-purpose rooms, meditation spaces, classrooms, meeting rooms, study rooms and a circular sacred area.
The multi-faith center is a high-performance sustainable building. Low-flow plumbing fixtures were installed throughout the center and greatly help reduce water usage. A high-efficiency mechanical system was installed including chillers, condensing boilers and a split-dehumidification system. Special precautions were taken when installing the mechanical equipment to ensure minimal accumulation of dust and debris in the duct work. All materials, windows, landscapes, architectural and mechanical designs help to make the Numen Lumen Center LEED Silver certified.
