A new 150,000 square foot middle school in Durham Public School system that was finished in July 2012 and was awarded LEED Gold. The building was installed with solar panels, shading devices, day-lighting controls, chilled water pumps all contributing to sustainability of the building. The Lucas Middle School is the first new middle school to be built in the district in the past 20 years.
